Nguyen Van Bay used this Mig-17F "2047" on April 19, 1972 to bomb the USS Higbee and USS Oklahoma City when those two US destroyers were shelling Dong Hoi in the Gulf of Tonkin.

This colorful Shenyang J-5 "2011" is marked with nine victories. One of the victories was against the F-4C 63-7614 (piloted by Colonel Norman Cagadix) from USAF, shot down on May 12th, 1967 by Ngo Duc Mai.
